The Art of Publication

Emory Douglas was an African American graphic artist who has developed his technical skills through experience, as well as education. As an artist, Emory's work was well recognized in emphasizing black culture, as well as the civil rights movement within history; his works were included within publications, as well as encouraging political artists within the art world. One of Emory's best works that he has created within his career, was an artwork called The Black Panther. The reason why this artist has chosen the name for this work was because he wanted to promote black movement within the community. As Emory was Hired to do publications for a newspaper company, he has made his work detailed enough to spread within America, as well as other people who are viewing it within the newspapers.

Other than publishing his work, the way he made his work included a bunch of thick bold outlines within his art; these thick lines within his work makes his work seem more graphical than just it being art and whatnot. Not only did the black bold outlines emphasize detail within his artwork, but he made most of the colors in the work black and white. The black and white colors within the publication gives his work a signature style, and this style made sure that people would remember his work other than remembering the artist that created it. Within the Black Panther Party, the publication artwork includes several expectations within the black movement; the movement includes expectations such as freedom, power and equality within their people. This is what I have learned within The Black Panther Party.
